Job description
Overview
The National Identity Associate Teacher plays a pivotal role in prioritizing students' educational experiences and is accountable for maintaining exemplary standards in both performance and conduct. This role involves encouraging active student engagement in classroom and extracurricular activities while supporting teaching staff with educational programs. Ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all students is paramount, adhering strictly to the school's established policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and sustain a secure and engaging learning environment for pupils.
- Prepare teaching materials and classroom resources, including bulletin boards and copied content, as directed by teachers.
- Assist teachers in delivering instruction to small groups or entire classes.
- Utilize bilingual teaching strategies effectively to support both languages across the curriculum.
- Provide cover for lessons, community care activities, and supervisory duties as required.
- Monitor students' physical and emotional health and respond appropriately to individual needs.
- Implement emergency and evacuation procedures as needed in compliance with school safety standards.
- Follow the school's health and safety regulations thoroughly.
- Participate actively in training sessions, regular staff meetings, and additional meetings as necessary.
- Supervise students during playtimes and lunch breaks when assigned.
- Promote subject awareness within the school and contribute to co-curricular opportunities.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and teams to provide comprehensive support.
- Offer support inside and outside the classroom, including facilitating participation in camps, educational trips, and school-wide activities.
- Perform other assigned responsibilities and assume delegated duties, including agreed objectives.
- Support teachers in up to 25 lessons weekly, as directed by the Junior School Principal.
- Carry out additional duties as requested by the line manager.
Safeguarding
The role entails dedication to the safeguarding and promotion of children’s welfare, following the school's protection policies and staff conduct code. The post holder will assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure student safety and well-being throughout the school environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of two years’ experience working in Junior School settings.
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning styles, as well as social and psychological needs.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong ability to establish productive and effective professional relationships.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to varied tasks and changing situations.
- Capability to set and uphold high expectations to inspire and challenge students.
- Proficiency in information technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
- Stable performance under pressure with effective prioritization skills.
