Role Overview
The National Field Manager leads the nationwide field operations for New Zealand’s ice cream market. This pivotal role involves managing, coaching, and supporting a team of Territory and Area Managers. The focus is on driving new customer growth, optimizing territory structures, and ensuring seamless collaboration across business units to maintain adherence to channel and customer objectives. The role demands commercial acumen to guide field teams in achieving growth targets and performance benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a national team of 9 Area Managers to meet sales, execution, and customer growth goals within In Home (IH) and Out Of Home (OOH) segments.
- Create and execute business plans, establish customer call routines, and define operational methods to consistently address channel priorities.
- Promote new business development and customer acquisition, cultivating a performance-driven mindset across the field team.
- Monitor and assess field activities through KPIs and dashboards to guarantee achievement of weekly, monthly, and annual objectives.
- Collaborate closely with Customer Strategy and Planning (CSP) Managers to align field efforts with broader customer engagements, shopper initiatives, and profit and loss targets.
- Support multi-site customer relationship management to uphold service quality and consistency.
- Ensure correct placement of point-of-sale materials, product range expansion, and adherence to Perfect Store standards.
- Assist teams during store and branch reviews with key customers and facilitate development of Joint Business Plans aimed at long-term growth.
- Evaluate trade investments for return on investment and coordinate with ANZ asset teams for capital allocation.
- Drive the integration of field teams to effectively support IH and OOH clients as a unified Ice Cream field force.
- Manage performance indicators and dashboards to ensure sales and execution target compliance.
- Oversee third-party vendor contracts and performance related to merchandising, distributor execution, and point-of-sale standards compliance.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum five years’ experience in FMCG field sales, customer account management, or field leadership, preferably within a national multi-channel framework encompassing IH and OOH segments.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills, with a proven ability to inspire and build high-performing teams focused on capability and outcomes.
- Strategic thinker with commercial insight to convert customer and channel strategies into concrete operational plans.
- Proven expertise in managing key customer relationships, enhancing store-level partnerships, and supporting team initiatives.
- Ability to identify and convert new business prospects, demonstrating a growth-oriented mindset and hunter approach.
- In-depth knowledge of in-store execution standards, including Perfect Store protocols, new product launches, and trade development programs.
- Skilled in analyzing KPIs, managing dashboards, and driving accountability through performance metrics.
- Exceptional organizational and planning abilities, including setting effective call cycles and territorial structures to boost efficiency and execution.
- End-to-end ownership mentality with comfort operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
