Job description

About the Company

Bright Motor Group, established in 1982, has grown into one of Ireland’s major motor retail groups, with a portfolio that includes Ford, Hyundai, SEAT, Cupra, Volkswagen Commercial, Citroën, Suzuki, Peugeot, Opel, Leapmotor, DS and BYD. The business operates 9 showrooms at Airside near Swords, 5 additional locations on Navan Road, and a dealership in Bray, all of which are well connected to the motorway network and accessible from across Greater Dublin.

As the company continues to expand, it is looking for motivated people to help drive the next stage of growth and support its strategic objectives.

Role Overview

Bright Motor Group is hiring a Motor Technician for its Airside dealership. This is a full-time permanent opportunity for a customer-oriented technician who wants to grow a career within a leading Irish motor retail group.

The role involves diagnosing, servicing and repairing vehicles to a high standard, explaining vehicle condition clearly to customers, working closely with service teams, and handling jobs through the dealer system while improving technical capability and working toward performance goals.

The group operates more than 80 vehicle work bays, offering exposure to a wide range of ICE, EV, passenger and LCV vehicles, along with structured training and career development opportunities.

Key Duties

  • Carry out servicing and repair work on vehicles.
  • Use technical expertise to complete diagnostic tasks.
  • Perform vehicle health checks and create video reports to explain vehicle condition and any recommended work.
  • Follow workshop processes and record labour time and completed work in the company dealer management system.
  • Plan and coordinate daily workloads with Service Reception and other support colleagues.
  • Identify parts requirements and communicate with the Parts team through the dealer system.
  • Liaise with Service Reception regarding any issues or changes needed to allocated job times.
  • Work to a high standard and aim for a first-time fix.
  • Discuss vehicle condition and required repairs with customers when needed.
  • Complete road tests before and after work on customer vehicles.
  • Keep the work bay clean, organised and safe.
  • Support and help train apprentice technicians.
  • Work toward performance targets to qualify for bonus earnings.
  • Continue building skills through regular training to maintain brand knowledge.
  • Follow all health and safety requirements.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will be a qualified motor technician, with Volkswagen experience considered a strong advantage. The person appointed should be organised, capable of working independently or as part of a team, and confident in delivering excellent customer service.

Experience in a franchised dealership is preferred. The role also requires the ability to work to targets and within manufacturer time standards, strong computer skills, familiarity with company DMS processes, a full Irish or EU driving licence, punctuality, initiative and a solid work ethic. The successful candidate should also be comfortable mentoring apprentices and supporting less experienced colleagues.

Benefits

  • Competitive basic salary.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Productivity bonus scheme.
  • 20 days of basic annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Additional leave days.
  • Company pension.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
