Job description

About the employer

Allianz is a major global insurance and asset management organisation and has been recognised as one of Australia’s Best Workplaces 2025 and a Great Place to Work. The business places strong emphasis on care for customers, the environment and colleagues, and looks to hire exceptional people who can help deliver on its promise to secure the future for its customers.

The company promotes an inclusive environment where people feel they belong, along with a culture of continuous learning, growth and global mobility. The role also sits within an organisation that values meaningful work, community contribution, sustainability, mental health and overall wellbeing.

Role overview

The Motor Assessor Digital and Regional position is part of the Customer & Operations function, based in Brisbane and listed with Home Hill, Queensland as the location. The role focuses on providing accurate motor vehicle assessment outcomes, supporting both repair cost and total loss decisions, and helping improve customer and repairer experiences.

Key duties

  • Produce the most practical assessment outcome possible, whether that results in a repair estimate or a total loss decision, including work such as closed file reviews and open file reviews.
  • Follow the organisation’s motor assessment procedures, guidelines, parts allowances, severity coding requirements and repairer standards.
  • Use repair cost benchmarking, alternative parts reporting and scorecards where suitable to lift repairer performance.
  • Help enhance the service experience for both selected and non-selected repairers.
  • Support customers with quick resolution of complaints, including issues tied to repair warranties, service matters and similar concerns.
  • Work toward or above productivity targets.
  • Complete total loss reports within 24 hours of assessment whenever it is reasonably possible.

What we are looking for

Applicants should bring trade or assessing experience, practical technical knowledge and strong communication skills. A current driver’s licence is required, along with the ability to handle busy workloads, ambiguity and competing priorities. Comfort with digital tools, reporting systems and communication platforms is important, as is an interest in emerging technology and its use in a changing environment.

Preferred background includes a trade qualification with substantial post-apprenticeship experience as a panel beater, spray painter or motor mechanic, or significant experience as a motor insurance assessor. Completion of the CAC-approved units of the Certificate IV Vehicle Loss Assessing Course is also considered desirable.

Additional requirements and experience

  • Experience in repair shop management or estimating is desirable.
  • Experience in motor vehicle assessing and preparing damage quotations is desirable.
  • Quoting experience is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Insurer and Repair Industry Code of Conduct is expected.
  • Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation ability is needed to manage tasks, resources and deadlines effectively.
  • Capability to navigate complexity and uncertainty while offering practical commercial solutions is important.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Competence with systems, software, databases, reporting tools and communication tools is expected.

Benefits and workplace support

  • Supportive and inclusive culture with a focus on customer outcomes and authenticity at work.
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangements and tailored workplace adjustments where possible.
  • Access to mentoring, development pathways and global mobility opportunities, supported by more than 10,000 learning resources.
  • Discounts on Allianz products, retail, technology and travel.
  • Financial wellbeing support and an Employee Share Purchase Program.
