Job description
Role overview
HelloYello, a mortgage business focused on helping first-home buyers, is hiring a full-time Mortgage Support Specialist in Central Auckland. The role is designed for someone who is highly organised, customer-focused, and keen to build a long-term career toward becoming a mortgage adviser over the next 2 to 3 years. The position combines client service, lending support, documentation, workflow coordination, and compliance-minded administration.
This is not a basic admin position. You’ll play a central part in the customer experience by keeping home loan applications moving, supporting advisers, liaising with lenders, and making sure clients feel well informed throughout the journey. The team also embraces AI and digital tools to work more efficiently and improve the quality of output.
The role is based in Central Auckland with flexible working arrangements available. The ideal start date is January 2027, although an earlier start may be possible for the right candidate.
What you will do
You will manage day-to-day workflow, help prepare and submit home loan applications, keep customers updated, and act as the link between clients and banks. The role also includes end-to-end mortgage servicing work such as refixes and restructures, creating accurate customer documents, and keeping every step compliant and well organised.
Additional information
This opportunity is intended for someone who already has solid lending experience and wants to progress into a mortgage adviser role within 2 to 3 years. The business encourages experimentation with AI tools and smarter ways of working, and values people who want to improve processes rather than simply maintain them.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily workflow so mortgage advisers can focus on higher-value client work.
- Prepare and lodge home loan applications accurately and efficiently.
- Keep clients informed proactively so they do not need to chase updates.
- Communicate with banks and other stakeholders to simplify the process for customers.
- Handle the full mortgage servicing process, including refixes and restructures.
- Draft precise customer-facing documents such as funding approvals and advice statements.
- Ensure all work meets compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Make calls, send emails, and follow up on tasks to keep applications moving.
- Use AI tools to reduce repetitive work, improve documentation, and increase productivity.
- Continuously look for better, faster, and smarter ways to work.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of lending experience, preferably with a New Zealand bank.
- Good understanding of the lending process and the home buying journey.
- Strong knowledge of loan products and the ability to explain them clearly.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a practical, results-driven mindset.
- Confidence in dealing with lenders, lawyers, and other third parties.
- Strong numerical ability and experience preparing complete client applications.
- Highly organised, structured, and able to work with energy and consistency.
- Strong commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for customers.
- Collaborative attitude with high standards and a strong work ethic.
- Comfort with AI tools, or a genuine willingness to learn them.
- Must already live in New Zealand and have unrestricted legal right to work there; visa sponsorship is not available.
- Level 5 Financial Adviser accreditation is an advantage, or a clear plan to obtain it.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Trail CRM, ChatGPT, Claude, Marloo, or similar business and AI tools is an added advantage.
Perks
- A clearly structured pathway to become a qualified Mortgage Adviser within 2 to 3 years.
- Hands-on mentoring from experienced advisers.
- Access to advanced AI tools and training from the start.
- Opportunities to take ownership of workflow and support other team members.
- A close-knit team culture with strong support and a positive attitude.
- The satisfaction of helping people secure their first, next, or dream home.
- Modern CRM and digital systems that reduce manual work.
- Competitive pay with discretionary performance bonuses.
- Flexible working arrangements.
Values
The team is guided by a few core values: creating life-changing outcomes, being honest and making progress, striving to improve while celebrating wins, and supporting one another through every stage of the journey.
