Overview
Filipino Contractors is looking for a dependable and detail-focused Medical Virtual Assistant specializing in Mental Health and Behavioral Health to support administrative duties such as patient intake, referral handling, insurance verification, scheduling appointments, and patient communications. The role involves managing patient interactions with professionalism and empathy, especially within the behavioral health domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Screen and respond to incoming patient referrals carefully.
- Oversee new patient intake from first inquiry through appointment arrangement.
- Accurately input patient details into EMR/EHR systems.
- Confirm patients' insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Schedule consultation and full appointment calls ranging from 15 to 20 minutes.
- Field inbound calls and respond to new patient inquiries professionally.
- Follow up with patients regarding appointment confirmations, cancellations, rescheduling, insurance details, and document submissions.
- Maintain compassionate and professional communication with behavioral health patients.
- Organize and maintain patient contact databases.
- Reach out to previous patients for reactivation when appropriate.
- Manage emails and administrative correspondence efficiently.
- Support daily clinical operations to ensure smooth workflow.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Virtual Assistant, Intake Coordinator, or related healthcare administrative positions.
- Previous work within behavioral or mental health practice administration.
- Knowledge of patient intake, referral processing, and insurance verification procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR platforms, with Therapy Notes experience being advantageous.
- Excellent telephone etiquette and effective patient communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
- Capacity to work independently and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Fluent and clear English communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Ability to pass background checks such as NBI and local police clearance prior to onboarding.
- Availability for video meetings with video enabled when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in customer service, appointment setting, or patient coordination roles.
- Background in healthcare scheduling or medical office assistance.
- Comfortable managing a high volume of patient inquiries.
Technical and Workspace Requirements
- Reliable laptop or desktop computer.
- High-speed internet connection of at least 10 Mbps.
- Use of noise-cancelling headset for calls.
- Webcam available for virtual meetings.
- Quiet and professional workspace environment.
