About the Organization
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a globally recognized biomedical and hospital research center based in Montreal, Quebec. Affiliated with McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and partially supported by Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS), the RI-MUHC focuses on advancing biomedical science and patient-centered medical innovation.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Pre-Awards Office Manager, the main responsibility is to assist RI-MUHC researchers in obtaining research funding by reviewing, preparing, editing, managing, and submitting grant proposals aligned with established protocols. The role also involves supporting the Pre-Awards Office in hosting institutional events, attending scientific meetings to engage with the research community, and promoting research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and refine scientific sections of grant proposals for local, national, and international funding bodies.
- Spot and disseminate relevant funding opportunities to institute researchers.
- Act as a liaison between researchers and funding agencies before and during project execution as needed.
- Compose clear, audience-friendly research summaries.
- Interpret complex grant application guidelines and criteria.
- Develop content for the Pre-Awards Office webpage on the RI-MUHC portal.
- Facilitate research proposal development through coordinating meetings, progress tracking, and creating GANTT charts.
- Support hospital-based research teams in their development efforts and research dissemination.
- Organize and host meetings enhancing research funding and visibility within the institute.
- Coordinate town hall meetings for initiatives such as Hacking Health events that unite web developers, clinicians, and scientists.
- Stay updated on health economics advancements relevant to the institute's research activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master's degree (MSc) in Life Sciences or equivalent; Medical Writer Certification (MWC) advantageous.
- Minimum of three years' professional experience, ideally within a health-focused institution or similar environment.

Additional Information
- Employment: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with availability beyond regular hours if necessary.
- Work Location: Hybrid model with primary office at 2155 Guy Street, Montreal.
- Salary Range: CAD 57,093 to 105,996.80 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Vacation: 4 weeks initially, increasing to 5 weeks after 5 years.
- Paid Time Off: 12 personal/sickness/family days and 13 statutory holidays.
