Role overview

This position is for a Medical Writer who will collaborate closely with scientific colleagues to create clear, accurate, and compliant medical communications across multiple formats. The role offers practical experience in medical writing while strengthening skills in scientific storytelling, precision, and editorial standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop copy for a wide variety of medical communication materials, including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, slide decks, medical affairs assets, and related deliverables.
  • Take ownership of assigned work so it is completed on time and within agreed budget limits.
  • Communicate confidently with clients and external experts to keep projects running smoothly.
  • Review, interpret, and apply feedback from internal and external reviewers while preserving scientific accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Share relevant updates and information with editorial and client services colleagues.
  • Stay informed about therapeutic areas, competitors, new products, and new indications relevant to assigned accounts.
  • Work with client services to flag any changes in scope or timelines that may affect budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Track time accurately against budgets, complete timesheets weekly, and submit them on schedule to the line manager, client services lead(s), and finance team.
  • Keep up to date with self-regulatory requirements, compliance expectations, and client SOPs, and follow good working practices consistently.

Requirements

  • A degree in life sciences; a science-based master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication ability.
  • Solid understanding of pharmaceutical industry processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently in a busy agency setting.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new therapy areas and disease states.
  • Proactive communication style when sharing status updates, ideas, and feedback with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook, plus Adobe.
