Role Purpose
We are seeking a Medical Writer specializing in Publications to join our expanding team. This role involves creating scientifically rigorous and compelling communications that support healthcare professionals in improving patient outcomes while adhering to industry codes and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize diverse resources to grasp the scientific and strategic aspects of assigned projects.
- Conduct research including key evidence evaluation mapping, data collection from multiple sources, and staying informed on brand markets and competitors.
- Understand the commercial context and incorporate relevant commercial information for therapeutic areas under guidance.
- Align written output with brand strategic objectives.
- Comply with ABPI code of conduct with support from senior team and training.
- Develop and structure various scientific documents such as manuscripts, posters, abstracts, slide decks, MSL materials, advisory board, and symposia content and reports.
- Perform document annotation, data verification, and prepare comprehensive reference packs.
- Develop or enhance therapy area expertise to meet communication goals under senior editorial supervision.
- Tailor writing styles to suit different audiences, including physicians, nurses, and patients, supervised by senior management.
- Take clear ownership and maintain responsibility for assigned projects.
- Follow rigorous quality control processes including precise referencing, data checks, and proofreading.
- Share therapeutic knowledge with the broader team as needed.
- Communicate effectively with clients, under senior guidance, responding timely to requests.
- Engage actively in project briefings to confirm understanding and clarify requirements.
- Manage timelines diligently, identifying and resolving potential obstacles promptly.
- Lead by example in editorial best practices and industry standards.
- Support colleagues across editorial and account teams by sharing expertise.
- Encourage peer learning by sharing insights and experiences.
- Seek and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
- Participate in performance reviews and work towards set objectives.
- Ensure timely execution of editorial deliverables, respecting schedules, budgets, and briefs.

- Identify opportunities to integrate innovations and ideas into project work and share with teams.

Qualifications and Experience
- Prior medical writing experience, preferably within an agency environment.
- Familiarity with Good Publication Practice (GPP) and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidelines concerning publication development.
- A relevant advanced degree, preferably a Master's or PhD in a scientific discipline.
- Strong scientific foundation with ability to learn new therapeutic areas swiftly and demonstrate knowledge effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of the clinical trials landscape including phases I–III, trial data presentation, registrational studies, and drug approval processes.
- Knowledge of key clinical trial statistical measures (e.g., Progression-Free Survival, Overall Survival, safety data, relapse rates).
- Familiarity with clinical measurement scales such as RECIST and EDSS, with ability to assess data strength.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Clear, concise, and precise writing ability demonstrating understanding of appropriate language use and avoidance of unverified claims.
- Knowledge of business development processes and terminology.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication capabilities.
- Independent yet collaborative mindset comfortable owning deliverables and working closely with a team.
- Professional demeanor with urgency and client service focus.
- Confidence in upward management to proactively communicate potential delays or issues.
