Role Overview

As a Medical Writer Lead based in Sydney, you will leverage your subject matter knowledge across specific therapeutic areas and disease states. Partner with Client Clinical Research Physicians and Scientists to develop medical content that aligns with brand strategies and communication plans. You will create diverse medical affairs materials including manuscripts, slide decks for competitive intelligence and MSLs, disease education decks, responses to healthcare provider queries, and educational documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyze complex clinical data, research findings, and scientific information to produce precise and clear documents for various audiences and channels.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings fully prepared to understand scope, relay minutes and timelines effectively to project owners, and manage communication with editors, graphic designers, PMC, and MCA teams.
  • Deliver high-quality content adhering to reference citation standards and style guides.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities proactively, and communicate changes or expectations to stakeholders clearly.
  • Remain adaptable to evolving tools, software, and processes; modify writing techniques according to updated guidelines or feedback.
  • Mentor and onboard team members efficiently to foster their rapid integration and success.

Required Skills and Expertise

  • Extensive publication writing experience with multiple peer-reviewed articles published in reputable journals.
  • In-depth therapy area expertise relevant to medical writing.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, GraphPad Prism, Veeva Vault MedComms, and AEM software platforms.
  • Strong strategic and creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Clinical Research Scientists (CRSs), Clinical Research Physicians (CRPs), and Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs).
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Experience training and mentoring junior medical writers.
