Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is on behalf of a partner organization that oversees the hiring process and all subsequent communication. They are seeking a Medical Subject Matter Expert based in the United States to support AI training and documentation work.

The role is designed for experienced medical professionals who can contribute authentic, high-quality clinical and healthcare materials. Your work will help improve how AI systems interpret medical reasoning, terminology, and healthcare processes. You will produce and curate original documentation that reflects real clinical practice, while maintaining accuracy, clarity, educational usefulness, and strict confidentiality.

This is a remote, project-based contractor position for professionals interested in applying their clinical expertise in an AI-focused environment. The output you create will help strengthen the reliability and quality of medical intelligence systems used at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Develop original medical content such as clinical reports, case studies, research papers, and technical healthcare writing.
  • Prepare documentation that shows strong clinical understanding, precision, and practical medical insight.
  • Include structured and multimodal materials where needed, such as tables, charts, diagrams, and figures.
  • Remove or mask any patient-identifying or sensitive details while preserving the material’s learning value.
  • Assemble varied documentation sets, usually ranging from 10 to 100 pages, for different AI training scenarios.
  • Add notes, explanations, and context when needed to make the data easier to use.
  • Work with remote project teams to refine and improve medical AI training datasets.

Requirements

  • Advanced qualification or certification in Medicine, Healthcare, Clinical Research, or a related discipline, such as MD, DO, MBBS, RN, PhD, or an equivalent credential.
  • Hands-on experience creating clinical documents like reports, case studies, research manuscripts, or medical records.
  • Strong command of medical terminology, documentation standards, and confidentiality practices.
  • Clear written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medical ideas in simpler terms.
  • Experience preparing structured medical material that may include tables, charts, and visual representations.
  • Ability to provide original portfolio examples of medical documentation for training use.
  • Experience in clinical practice, healthcare research, academia, or medical writing is an advantage.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and ethical handling of medical information.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, project-based setup.

Perks and benefits

  • Hourly pay in the range of $20 to $40.
  • Fully remote contractor arrangement with flexible scheduling.
  • Opportunity to contribute to advanced AI systems in healthcare.
  • Exposure to innovative uses of medical expertise in artificial intelligence.
  • Project-based engagement with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Chance to apply clinical knowledge in a meaningful, forward-looking domain.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams on advanced AI training efforts.
