About the Role
Join an exciting US biotechnology startup as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) focused on launching an innovative product for rare diseases in endocrinology and ophthalmology in Europe. Be part of a new three-person MSL team based in western Germany with opportunities to take ownership from day one within a dynamic, agile startup culture.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain strong collaborations with key opinion leaders (KOLs), treatment centers, and medical experts.
- Deliver medical expertise and engage in scientific exchange related to rare diseases, endocrinology, and ophthalmology.
- Support clinical trials, site engagement, and activities before and after product launch.
- Participate in national and international conferences, organize advisory boards, and conduct expert meetings.
- Generate insights and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including medical affairs, clinical, commercial, and market access groups.
- Contribute to shaping and developing the MSL team structure within a startup environment.
Candidate Profile
- Doctorate or equivalent scientific qualification (PhD, MD, PharmD or similar).
- Several years of experience as an MSL, preferably with direct involvement in biotech product launches.
- Background or experience in rare diseases, endocrinology, or ophthalmology is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with KOLs.
- Enjoy working in a hands-on, flexible, and agile startup setting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
- Fluent in both German and English (negotiation level).
- Willingness to travel within the designated region.
What We Offer
This opportunity is ideal for MSLs eager to contribute significantly from the outset and gain visibility within a new organizational setup. You will engage regularly with colleagues across Europe and the US from various functions.
Compensation includes a fixed salary up to 115,000 euros, performance bonuses, and a company car. Remote work from home is possible within the western Germany region.
