Role Overview
We are seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to serve as a field-based scientific specialist responsible for supporting our medical affairs strategies and acting as a vital communication link between healthcare professionals and Oruka’s internal teams. This position requires residence within the assigned territory covering Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Maryland/DC, and Eastern Pennsylvania.
Key Responsibilities
- Form and nurture scientific partnerships with both national and regional key opinion leaders, speakers, and investigative clinicians through meaningful exchange.
- Continuously stay abreast of advances in dermatology and relevant fields by reviewing scientific literature, tracking competitor developments, networking with experts, and attending industry conferences.
- Facilitate medical education and support at national and regional scientific congresses via KOL interactions, poster and abstract engagements, exhibition booth support, and internal team briefings.
- Provide internal stakeholders with insightful feedback gathered from healthcare provider communications to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with investigators and clinical trial sites identified as having high impact and performance for Oruka’s research initiatives.
Candidate Qualifications
- An advanced degree in life sciences or healthcare fields is mandatory (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD/DO, MSN, NP/DNP, DMS/PA or similar).
- At least five years of pertinent clinical or pharmaceutical industry experience is essential; previous experience specifically in dermatology is advantageous.
- Prior role experience as a field Medical Science Liaison is required, dermatology experience preferred.
- Experience collaborating with CROs and clinical operations teams is beneficial.
- Deep understanding of drug development, clinical trial designs, patient safety monitoring, and regulation within pharma and biotech sectors.
- Self-motivated and capable of operating independently without close supervision.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills are critical.
- Candidates must reside within the assigned territory with easy access to a major national or international airport.
Travel Requirements
Extensive travel is necessary, comprising up to 75% of time, mainly via air or car to attend business meetings with healthcare providers and occasional internal meetings.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation package includes a competitive base salary, equity participation, and opportunities for performance-based bonuses. The estimated salary for remote candidates ranges from $182,000 to $235,000 annually, with the exact figure dependent on experience, education, and other factors. This range may vary depending on the state of employment.
