Role Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily functions of the Medical Records Department.
  • Assign ICD-9/10 and CPT codes for all diagnoses and procedures documented in medical records.
  • Perform abstraction, analysis, auditing, and coding of medical records promptly.
  • Supervise the release, archival, and transcription processes of medical records.
  • Gather and assess data to promote quality improvements.
  • Complete quarterly reports on performance improvements punctually.
  • Recommend updates to policies and procedures concerning medical records.
  • Participate actively as a member of assigned committees.
  • Collaborate closely with nursing, social work, and finance teams to ensure compliance with PPS guidelines and support unit profitability.
  • Engage proactively in tasks beyond specific job duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Familiarity with office workflows, medical terminology, typing, filing, transcription, and computer operations is essential.
