About the Position
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) seeks a Medical Records Clerk to join the Health Information Services team at Victoria General Hospital. This role involves performing a variety of functions including assembling charts, filing, releasing information, processing late reports, and generating or disseminating reports.
Key Duties
- Manage chart assembly and filing tasks efficiently.
- Handle release of information requests and process delayed reports.
- Create and distribute required health reports as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 12 education is required.
- Preferred candidates will have graduated from a recognized Health Information Management program or completed a medical terminology course alongside at least six months of experience in a medical records setting.
- Proficient in typing with a minimum speed of 40 words per minute as verified by a hospital typing test.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work autonomously, and make sound decisions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and electronic health record systems is an advantage.
- Knowledge of the Personal Health Information Act is beneficial.
Additional Requirements
- Must provide current satisfactory results from Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check; these must be less than six months old at employment start, and any associated costs are the responsibility of the candidate.
- Applicants cannot hold multiple positions within the WRHA entity that total over full-time equivalency (1.0 EFT).
- Candidates may be required to undergo skills assessment as part of the interview process.
Work Details
- Position is 0.5 full-time equivalent.
- Schedule includes evening and weekend shifts.
- Daily work hours are 7.75 hours, totaling 2015 annual base hours.
- Work is performed on-site at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Compensation
Salary scale ranges from $22.818 to $25.616 per hour, progressing through five incremental steps.
