Job description

Overview

The Medical Office Runner plays a vital role within a motivated healthcare team, supporting Medical Office Assistants, Primary Care Physicians, and Physician Assistants to ensure seamless patient care delivery.

Working Schedule

This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday, based at the St. Catharines, Ontario location.

Key Duties

  • Assist in providing excellent care to patients.
  • Prepare and room patients for medical consultations.
  • Document patient medical histories using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Measure and record patients’ blood pressure, height, and weight.
  • Communicate with patients and healthcare staff on behalf of physicians as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms and restock supplies.
  • Sterilize medical instruments using autoclave.
  • Track inventory and inform Medical Office Assistants regarding supply needs.
  • Operate various office equipment including Apple computers, PS Suite EMR, fax machines, photocopiers, and scanners.
  • Compile and process medical data accurately within the EMR system.
  • Perform data entry and other role-related tasks as necessary.

  • Work effectively under pressure while prioritizing duties carefully.
  • Work independently or collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
  • Must submit a Police Vulnerable Sector Check before employment begins.
  • Proficient telephone handling, computer system, and word processing skills.
  • Sound judgment for handling and responding to challenging situations appropriately.
  • Experience with TELUS PS Suite EMR software is preferred.
