Role Summary

This part-time, entry-level position is based in Hermitage, Edmonton, Alberta, and follows a schedule that includes days, evenings, and weekends. The role reports to the Clinic Manager and focuses on delivering warm, efficient patient service while supporting physicians and other medical staff.

Key Duties

  • Handle incoming calls, welcome patients, and complete patient registration.
  • Respond to patient questions in person and over the phone.
  • Prepare forms, create billing records, and collect payment for services not covered by insurance.
  • Escort patients to exam or treatment rooms and get them ready for the physician.
  • Clean and reset examination and treatment rooms between visits.
  • Assist with minor procedures such as PAPs, pelvic exams, and IUD-related support.
  • Carry out physician-ordered diagnostic tasks, including urinalysis.
  • Record basic measurements such as blood pressure, temperature, height, and weight as directed.
  • Book appointments and inform patients of upcoming visits.
  • Scan patient paperwork into electronic medical records when needed.
  • Sort incoming mail, receive faxes, and route items to the appropriate person.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning or operational checklists.
  • Take on additional related tasks as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • High school completion or an equivalent credential.
  • Prior customer service experience, preferably recent.
  • Familiarity with Med Access or another electronic medical records system.
  • Strong spoken and written communication abilities.
  • Good problem-solving capability.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to manage confidential information in line with the Health Information Act.
