Job description
About the Role
As a medically trained physician, you possess the expertise to analyze patient data, interpret laboratory results, formulate differential diagnoses, and make informed decisions under uncertain conditions. Your career has evolved beyond traditional clinical roles, embracing a wider impact through technological integration in healthcare.
At dehaze, an AI-driven company, we specialize in detecting chronic disease risks utilizing existing health data. Our solutions have enabled integrated health insurers to reduce annual health expenditures by approximately 10%, delivering significant value in a low-margin sector.
In this pivotal position, you will be the primary medical authority at dehaze, actively collaborating with top leadership including the CEO, CTO, and Chief Scientific Officer. Your main responsibility lies in validating our AI-generated insights and establishing a credible clinical evidence base that earns trust from regulators, clients, and the medical field.
Responsibilities
- Act as the clinical adjudicator by assessing the clinical plausibility of AI-flagged chronic disease risks based on your medical expertise and practical experience, beyond statistical evaluations. Only medically sound predictions are accepted.
- Review and ensure the integrity of data normalization processes that convert complex health information into coherent patient trajectories, confirming that key medical information such as diagnoses, lab results, medications, and procedures remain accurate and meaningful.
- Create and maintain high-quality benchmark datasets with clinically validated ground truth to evaluate each iteration of AI models effectively.
- Design and implement evidence generation strategies including validation studies, defining outcome measures, and fostering collaborations with academic institutions and research entities to co-validate our methodologies and publish results.
- Serve as the clinical credibility ambassador when engaging with chief medical officers or medical directors at health networks, effectively communicating the medical validity of dehaze’s solutions from firsthand clinical experience.
- Guide the clinical product roadmap by advising on medical requirements and prioritizing clinical development initiatives to optimize both medical impact and commercial value.
- Uphold patient safety by defining stringent safeguards, identifying potential edge cases, and ensuring clinical integrity is never compromised in pursuit of expediency.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Professional physician with substantial clinical experience, demonstrated by completed residency, extensive practice, or advanced clinical training, with proven ability to interpret clinical data and make diagnostic decisions under pressure.
- Possess additional expertise beyond clinical practice, whether in business, healthcare technology, or research, reflecting a multidimensional approach to healthcare innovation.
- Familiar with clinical research methodologies, including study design and outcome evaluation, capable of building credible evidence bases recognized by regulatory bodies and the scholarly community.
- Comfortable interpreting datasets, analyzing AI model outputs, and discerning their clinical relevance, with a foundational understanding of AI and machine learning concepts to engage effectively with technology teams.
- Strong clinical judgment and the willingness to challenge findings that do not meet medical standards, regardless of external pressures.
- Adaptable and proactive in a startup environment characterized by rapid change and ambiguity, eager to develop processes and standards from the ground up.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in German and Portuguese is highly advantageous.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Ability to integrate clinical insights with business considerations, articulating the economic importance of clinical findings to insurers.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing medical AI, including FDA, MdR, and ANVISA guidelines.
- History of publishing academic work in clinical research or medical AI fields.
- Understanding of clinical data standards such as ICD-10, SNOMED CT, and FHIR from a practitioner’s viewpoint.
- Experience collaborating with health insurers or integrated care systems.
Benefits
- Opportunity to work alongside experienced serial healthtech entrepreneurs and one of Europe's foremost medical AI professors in a dynamic startup environment.
- Engage with cutting-edge proprietary AI technology that innovatively analyzes existing health data to revolutionize chronic disease detection.
- Contribute to significant quality-of-life improvements and cost-saving measures with ambitious growth objectives targeting a tenfold increase in annual recurring revenue within the first year.
- Participate in an international expansion strategy influencing markets, regulatory landscapes, and diverse healthcare systems including Brazil, the US, and Europe.
- Competitive compensation package complemented by equity options (VSOP), fostering active ownership and long-term collaboration.
