Medical Laboratory Technologist

About the Role

Join Dynacare's Histology team in Brampton, Ontario, as a Medical Laboratory Technologist delivering precise and timely clinical laboratory services. Your work will directly influence patient care by providing accurate test results using cutting-edge technology. This is an 18-month full-time contract position working onsite, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, high-quality laboratory testing services adhering to clinical and scientific standards.
• Perform comprehensive histology tasks including specimen grossing, embedding, microtomy, and routine and special staining procedures.
• Verify specimen identification and ensure compliance with established procedural requirements.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure meticulous documentation accuracy.
• Follow quality control protocols and conduct regular maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Qualifications and Skills

• Registration as a practicing Medical Laboratory Technologist in good standing with the CMLTO.
• Independent working ability with sound decision-making and self-management in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills suited to a collaborative team atmosphere.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Competence in troubleshooting technical problems and suggesting effective solutions.
• Experience in Histology considered an asset.

Working Conditions

• Work environment includes standard office and medical laboratory settings.
• Tasks may involve walking, repetitive motions, and prolonged sitting or standing with significant computer use.
• May need to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
• Exposure to biohazardous substances, variable temperatures, and noise levels is expected.

Compensation

The hourly pay ranges from $35.00 to $38.75, with the final offer reflecting experience and educational background.
