Role Overview
We are seeking a Medical Assistant / Medical Office Administrator for a temporary full-time, 6-month role at our Barrie clinic located at 370 Bayview Drive, Barrie, ON. The candidate will support clinical and administrative functions to ensure smooth operations in a busy healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for healthcare provider assessments by gathering and documenting medical histories, taking vital signs, and updating patient charts.
- Verify accuracy of patients’ medication lists and record relevant social and medical histories into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Manage patient flow within the clinic to optimize use of facilities and provider schedules.
- Coordinate required medical investigations by communicating with medical facilities through electronic platforms or other means.
- Ensure patients are informed about the full range of LMC's multidisciplinary services to promote integrated care.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms with necessary supplies both medical and administrative.
- Download and manage data from various diabetes-related devices.
- Attend mandatory departmental and company-wide meetings.
- Perform administrative support tasks as assigned and provide cross-department assistance when necessary.
- Conduct patient check-in and check-out procedures efficiently.
- Handle incoming communications including phone calls, voicemails, and patient emails promptly.
- Maintain and update provider scheduling, coordinate appointments, and confirm bookings.
- Support coordination of patient visits across LMC’s services and manage referral and diagnostic scheduling.
- Manage faxing, scanning, mail handling, and shipping duties timely and accurately.
- Order and maintain office and medical supplies to ensure smooth functioning of the clinic.
- Respond to physician requests and complete third party forms and correspondence compliance with legal standards.
- Process patient financial transactions, including credit card, debit, and cash payments.
Candidate Requirements
- Prior experience as a Personal Support Worker, Medical Laboratory or Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience working as a Medical Assistant or Nurse in clinical settings.
- Familiarity with medical office operations and workflow.
- Competence in reviewing medication regimens.
- Proficient with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and medical terminology.
- Strong computer proficiency and typing skills.
Compensation and Additional Information
The hourly pay range for this position is $20 to $23, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. The role is temporary full-time for six months.
