Job description
Role overview
The Medical Laboratory Technologist will support daily laboratory operations at JurongHealth Campus in Singapore. The role focuses on specimen handling, laboratory testing, equipment upkeep, quality control, and adherence to safety and procedural standards.
Key duties
- Receive, prepare, and package laboratory specimens for processing.
- Support telephone reception tasks and help verify that patient billing details are accurate.
- Conduct specimen testing, operate analytical equipment, maintain instruments, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Diagnose straightforward technical problems, provide basic explanations, and escalate more complex matters when necessary.
- Apply quality control practices such as Westgard rules, QC criteria, and external quality assessment, and check QC outcomes for accuracy.
- Help identify and resolve quality control-related problems.
- Follow the department’s standard operating procedures and safety guidelines at all times.
- Assist in supervising junior team members and support their day-to-day guidance.
- Update existing SOPs or draft new ones when required.
Requirements
- A degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent qualification is required.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience is needed.
- The position requires working on a 3-shift rotation covering morning, afternoon, and night duties.
