With 25 laboratories, 150 collection centers, and over 2,200 employees across Aotearoa, the team expertly conducts and reports on more than 7 million patient tests annually, employing specialist pathologists, scientists, technicians, and support staff.

Role Overview

We are inviting applications for multiple permanent part-time Medical Laboratory Technician positions within our Biochemistry Department in Wellington. Each role encompasses 64 hours per fortnight, including one week with two consecutive night shifts from 23:30 to 07:30.

Key Duties

  • Perform analysis of blood samples conforming to established biochemistry protocols.
  • Report results according to quality benchmarks and client requirements.
  • Ensure prompt delivery of results while maintaining quality and technical standards.
  • Participate in quality control, process improvements, and efficiency drives within the biochemistry team.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrate meticulous adherence to strict procedural and quality guidelines.
  • Exhibit strong teamwork, initiative, interpersonal, and communication skills suited for a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Possess sound understanding of laboratory operations, including safety, quality assurance, equipment use, and practical hands-on experience.
  • Preferably registered with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand as a Medical Laboratory Technician with a current practicing certificate; however, applications from eligible candidates without registration but with relevant biological science qualifications or experience will be considered.
  • Available for rostered and rotating weekend and evening shifts, which include penal rates.
  • Hold current eligibility to work in New Zealand.
