Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to become a part of our Microbiology department. This role involves supporting the provision of diagnostic services through a variety of tasks such as data entry, performing manual, semi-automated and automated laboratory technical procedures, managing telephone enquiries, handling store-keeping and stock control responsibilities, as well as overseeing laboratory waste disposal.
Role Details
- One permanent full-time position (37.5 hours per week).
- One fixed-term full-time position (37.5 hours per week), secondment opportunity for internal staff.
- The laboratory operates a 7-day extended service, and the successful candidates will be required to participate in shift work.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidates will be diligent, enthusiastic, and capable of working effectively both independently and within a team, even under pressure. Strong communication and IT skills are essential. While relevant prior experience is preferred, comprehensive training will be provided to successful applicants.
