Role Overview
The Clinical Data Specialist supports clinical trial operations across the Iterative Health network by performing detailed reviews of electronic health records (EHRs) to identify potential participants, aiding patient recruitment, maintaining research databases, and ensuring accurate documentation throughout the patient pre-screening process. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, the ability to thrive in dynamic settings, and a dedication to advancing clinical research through data and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine EHRs to find patients eligible for clinical studies.
- Interpret study protocols and eligibility criteria to match suitable candidates.
- Create and update databases listing potential study subjects across programs.
- Document pre-screening procedures and outcomes following protocols and regulations.
- Collaborate with clinical teams and research sites to enhance recruitment efforts.
- Support operational activities such as data collection, documentation, and coordination at research sites.
- Assist in scheduling patient visits and managing research appointments.
- Enter data accurately and promptly into clinical research databases and internal platforms.
- Maintain organized records and tracking tools to boost operational efficiency and reporting.
- Participate in meetings and contribute to ongoing improvements.
- Handle protected health information and research data with confidentiality and compliance.
- Adhere to company standards, study protocols, Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and applicable laws.
- Ensure all data and documentation is precise, complete, and high quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience combination.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace apps, Adobe Acrobat, and various web-based applications.
- Quick at learning new technology, including EHRs, Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS), and Customer Relationship Management tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Effective time management with capability to handle multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced dynamic workplace.
- Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and integrity in managing sensitive information.
Preferred Experience
- Background in clinical research, healthcare operations, patient recruitment, or data management.
- Knowledge of clinical research protocols and eligibility standards.
- Experience interpreting EHR data.
- Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in healthcare technology, biotechnology, or startup environments.
- Knowledge of Salesforce, CTMS, or similar research platforms.
