Role Overview

The Medical Advisor will act as the scientific and medical authority for assigned oncology products within the Gulf region. This role involves providing expert guidance to key customers, supporting medical affairs strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams ensuring alignment with the affiliate’s goals. The position reports to the Affiliate Medical Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in brand teams, offering medical and scientific insights to marketing and commercial initiatives.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of assigned products and therapeutic areas through continuous learning including conferences and literature review.
  • Respond to scientific inquiries, contribute to development of medical dossiers such as pricing, reimbursement, and HEOR documents.
  • Build and nurture professional relationships with external experts, academic institutions, and stakeholders through scientific events and advisory boards.
  • Deliver scientific presentations and medical education to healthcare professionals, individually or in groups.
  • Analyze and summarize key scientific literature to inform internal strategies and activities.
  • Provide training to sales and other departments with updated educational materials.
  • Design and oversee clinical research projects including phase IV studies, registries, epidemiological surveys, and post-marketing surveillance studies, ensuring adherence to standards and budgets.
  • Manage review and approval processes of investigator-initiated studies and support the Clinical Research Department as needed.
  • Review promotional and non-promotional materials for scientific accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with national laws, industry codes, AbbVie’s policies, and best practice standards.
  • Support local strategic medical affairs planning and collaborate closely with business partners to align medical activities with commercial objectives.
  • Function as a scientific resource for healthcare professionals and external experts on products and development progress.
  • Contribute medically and scientifically to clinical research, stakeholder engagement, data communication, education, and patient safety within assigned areas.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Advanced degree such as PharmD, PharmB, MD, or PhD preferred; candidates with relevant undergraduate degrees and significant experience will be considered.
  • Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and Medical Affairs’ role in advancing medical and scientific goals.
  • Experience in Medical Affairs focusing on Oncology is required.
  • Strong expertise in clinical research methodologies, regulatory and legislative framework.
  • Ability to rapidly assimilate new therapeutic knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; capability to build strong relationships with healthcare professionals and decision-makers.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Collaborative mindset and comfortable working across teams and matrix organizations.
  • Independent working style with minimal supervision, broad cross-functional engagement, and strong organizational abilities.
  • High customer focus combined with digital literacy.
  • Deep commitment to compliance, scientific integrity, and quality standards.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.
