Position Overview

The Media Producer will collaborate closely with video, creative, policy, political, and communications teams to ideate, research, script, and host compelling news-oriented YouTube videos aimed at influencing policy change. Beyond video production, the role includes breaking news coverage, follow-up reporting, and managing social media posts related to covered stories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create video concepts, identify suitable on-camera talent, conduct interviews, craft scripts, and review video edits.
  • Serve as on-camera host, providing narration for desk reads or field shoots.
  • Generate and pitch diverse story ideas weekly to enhance news and advocacy content.
  • Conduct basic reporting such as interviews, public comment solicitation, and FOIA requests to advance stories.
  • Monitor current news, hearings, and press conferences to identify newsworthy elements relevant to core topics.
  • Write scripts, articles, tweets, and social media content to complement news pieces.
  • Engage in team meetings, collaborate on script development, interview subjects, and innovate creatively.
  • Apply knowledge of contemporary social media platforms and best practices.
  • Identify and address process inefficiencies collaboratively.
  • Adhere to publishing schedules and complete tasks from supervisors and colleagues promptly.
  • Adapt to a dynamic work environment and undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of five years in journalism or advocacy roles.
  • Proven experience in producing, reporting, or research.
  • Enthusiasm for scripting and producing video content.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Commitment to economic justice causes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High degree of self-motivation and structured work approach.

Compensation

The annual salary for this role is fixed at USD 85,000, offered remotely within the United States.
