Job description
Role Overview
Join Mars as a Mechanical Specialist based in Nairobi, Kenya, where you'll be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the performance and reliability of our plant's equipment through expert maintenance execution. This position prioritizes sustaining production processes by adhering to rigorous Quality, Food Safety, Health, and Environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting and repair across various mechanical systems, such as gear and power transmissions, drives, motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Address production line breakdowns promptly to minimize operational interruptions, while working alongside engineering teams to pursue lasting process enhancements.
- Implement and routinely assess Preventive and Autonomous Maintenance programs, and contribute to developing a Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) strategy.
- Oversee contractors and suppliers to maintain safety and quality compliance, and foster skill development within the mechanical team through coaching and mentorship.
- Manage the inventory of mechanical spare parts aligned with the company's maintenance strategies.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a minimum of five years practical experience in mechanical maintenance within industrial environments, demonstrating strong troubleshooting skills and technical knowledge.
- Holds a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or a similar relevant qualification.
- Fluent in English, capable of effective teamwork, and adaptable to working both day and night shifts as operational needs dictate.
- Exhibits a proactive maintenance mindset, excellent problem-solving capabilities, and experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
