About the Role

Worley is expanding its footprint in New Zealand with an impressive lineup of projects underway. We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Discipline Manager to lead and enhance our mechanical engineering capabilities nationwide. This leadership role focuses on mentoring teams, ensuring exemplary technical quality, and delivering successful projects across a variety of assignments. The position is available at either the Auckland or New Plymouth offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to mechanical engineers and designers nationwide.
• Offer technical guidance on diverse and complex engineering projects.
• Engage in resource and workforce planning, including recruitment and succession strategies.
• Ensure delivery of engineering outputs that comply with customer expectations, safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Standardize engineering practices and quality management for consistency.
• Support project teams by contributing to proposals, conducting technical reviews, and resolving challenges.
• Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to create innovative and practical outcomes.
• Identify areas for continuous improvement and growth within mechanical engineering functions.
• Participate in business development and support acquisition of new projects.
• Foster a workplace culture emphasizing safety, inclusion, and technical excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Mechanical Engineering degree is required.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) certification is mandatory.
• Proven leadership experience managing mechanical engineering teams in consulting, energy, resources, chemicals, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
• Strong expertise with mechanical equipment, piping systems, static and rotating equipment, or related disciplines.
• Track record delivering projects spanning feasibility assessment, front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.
• Leadership skills including coaching and team development.
• Ability to manage client and stakeholder relationships effectively.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and influencing abilities.
• Commercial insight balancing technical quality with project objectives.
• Dedication to building an inclusive and high-performing team environment.
• Current legal authorization to work in New Zealand.
