Job description
Job Overview
This role involves producing mechanical building services designs primarily for railway stations and associated railway infrastructure, working independently or collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC systems specific to railway station building services, demonstrating significant relevant experience or a strong track record.
- Perform heat load calculations as well as duct and pipe sizing along with pressure drop assessments.
- Select HVAC equipment including chillers, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), boilers, fans, and pumps.
- Prepare comprehensive technical submittals related to mechanical design.
- Lead technical reviews, peer checks, and contribute actively to the design process while fostering technical excellence across projects.
- Develop and maintain a positive professional working relationship with the Australian WSP team, ensuring clear communication about project status.
- Supervise and coordinate work of fellow engineers and CAD technicians on projects.
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety policies in all work activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering is required.
- Professional membership in recognized engineering institutions such as IMechE, CIBSE, ISHRAE, or ASHRAE is mandatory.
- Between 3 to 8 years of MEP mechanical design experience.
- Proven HVAC design experience, especially on projects in Australia or the UK.
- Proficient use of related engineering software such as AutoCAD, MEP Revit, MicroStation, HAP, Hevacomp, IES, and Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project).
- Excellent command of English, particularly technical language; strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work tasks and environments.
