Role overview
The Civil & Structural CAD Technician will create accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for civil and structural engineering assignments during FEED and detailed design phases. This position supports multidisciplinary teams in producing coordinated, compliant, and buildable design deliverables that align with project specifications and client expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop civil layouts, structural general arrangement drawings, reinforcement details, foundations, and steel structure drawings in both 2D and 3D.
- Prepare GA drawings, plans, sections, and detailed construction drawings.
- Carry work forward from concept development through detailed engineering.
- Check that outputs follow client standards, relevant codes, and project specifications.
- Interpret engineer mark-ups and design instructions, and coordinate closely with engineers.
- Contribute to model-based coordination and clash detection activities.
- Work with mechanical, electrical, and process teams to support cross-discipline coordination.
- Take part in design reviews and incorporate review comments into revised outputs.
- Create models using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, CADS RC, and Navisworks.
- Produce reinforcement detailing and structural modelling deliverables.
- Assist with BIM model creation, updates, and revisions.
- Make sure drawings meet QA/QC checks and CAD standards.
- Manage version control and maintain drawing registers.
- Carry out self-checks before submitting work.
- Prepare drawing packages for submission in PDF and DWG formats.
- Support engineers with BOQs and quantity take-offs when required.
- Maintain well-organized documentation in project systems.
Technical profile
The role calls for strong proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D modelling tools, along with working knowledge of structural detailing, civil site layouts, and coordination workflows. Familiarity with substation, power, and pipeline projects is important, as is experience in energy, infrastructure, or industrial environments. Exposure to international projects, especially UK-based work, is preferred.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
- Ability to model in Revit for structural or architectural elements.
- Preferred experience with Civil 3D.
- Working knowledge of Navisworks for coordination and clash detection.
- Understanding of structural detailing for reinforced concrete and steel.
- Knowledge of civil layouts such as foundations, drainage, and site plans.
- Comfort working within FEED and detailed design stages.
- High attention to detail and drawing accuracy.
- Ability to deliver quality work in deadline-driven project settings.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
