Key Responsibilities

• Establish, develop, and lead a dynamic commissioning team from hiring to ongoing growth and performance management.
• Create and enhance commissioning workflows, procedures, templates, and standards to effectively support various ongoing projects.
• Contribute to design reviews ensuring alignment with Technical Services, Engineering, and other groups on system requirements and commissioning plans.
• Develop comprehensive commissioning scopes, checklists, and documentation, ensuring smooth coordination with procurement and project controls.
• Lead and directly participate in commissioning complex factory systems, including mechanical dry systems (HVAC, dust extraction, exhaust), process systems (water treatment, natural gas, liquid nitrogen), and utility systems (compressed air, domestic water, sewage), ensuring safe and timely delivery with high quality.
• Set and enforce performance standards for suppliers and subcontractors, reviewing deliverables rigorously to meet Tesla's quality benchmarks before acceptance.
• Drive initiatives to optimize project schedules and costs through value engineering, reporting findings and recommendations to executive management.
• Implement and uphold quality assurance protocols, documentation standards, and handover procedures for all commissioning stages from early access through final acceptance.
• Engage collaboratively with senior personnel across Engineering, Construction, Technical Services, Manufacturing, and other departments to solve challenges and maintain alignment.
• Ensure full compliance with German technical regulations, standards, and permit obligations throughout all commissioning activities.
• Escalate significant issues to senior construction leadership, while empowering the commissioning team to manage routine execution tasks.

Candidate Profile

• Possesses a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification, or demonstrable equivalent professional experience.
• Brings over eight years of pertinent commissioning experience with complex industrial or manufacturing facilities, including a minimum of three years in leadership roles involving team management and development.
• Proven success in forming, leading, and nurturing commissioning teams.
• Strong track record in creating and applying commissioning procedures and standards suited for sizable industrial settings.
• Comprehensive technical understanding of mechanical, process, and utility systems sufficient to mentor the team and engage directly in commissioning activities when necessary.
• Experience managing third-party contractors and suppliers within commissioning or construction environments.
• In-depth knowledge of German technical codes, standards, and permit processes relevant to industrial commissioning projects.
• Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with proficiency in English; knowledge of German is highly advantageous.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office and Autodesk software suites.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment with cross-functional teams, meeting tight deadlines and ambitious targets.
