Role Overview

The position of Mechanic Supervisor, situated full-time on-site in Burton, South Australia, involves managing the routine upkeep and repair of a fleet comprised of specialized vehicles and trailers. This role is critical to ensuring all machinery is safe, compliant, and functions optimally. The supervisor is responsible for organizing and prioritizing workshop activities, delegating tasks among mechanics and technicians, and overseeing job progress to align with operational deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify mechanical problems and approve corresponding repair approaches.
  • Maintain precise service and maintenance records.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Coordinate communication and work flow between operations and transport divisions.
  • Manage parts inventory and workshop supplies efficiently.
  • Encourage and implement continuous improvements in maintenance procedures.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to uphold workmanship quality and high performance.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Solid mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with heavy vehicles, trailers, and hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
  • Proven supervisory or team leadership background within workshop or fleet maintenance settings.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, compliance protocols, and best maintenance practices in the transport sector.
  • Competency in planning workloads, prioritizing tasks, and managing resources to meet scheduled operations.
  • Experience using maintenance management software, documentation systems, and basic computer tools.
  • Industry-recognized trade certification such as Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, or equivalent, plus applicable licenses.
  • Strong communication skills enabling collaboration across multiple departments including operations, logistics, and management.
  • Preferred experience within bulk liquid transport, dangerous goods handling, or related industrial sectors.
