About the Role
Sourcebooks is looking for a passionate book lover and motivated publishing professional to join the teams at Cosmo Reads and Sourcebooks Landmark as a Marketing & Publicity Assistant. In this entry-level position, you will assist in promoting bestselling novels across genres such as fantasy, romance, suspense, horror, and book club fiction.
Based out of the headquarters in New York, NY or Naperville, Illinois, candidates will be expected to work onsite 3-4 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in marketing and publicity efforts to connect books with editors, influencers, and readers.
- Coordinate and manage ARC (Advance Reader Copy) and finished book mailings, including media and influencer packages and Goodreads giveaways.
- Support consumer marketing by helping with social media management and creation of marketing assets.
- Organize author travel arrangements, maintain itineraries, and aid in event logistics for tours, conferences, and festivals.
- Maintain marketing materials, campaign assets, inventory, and shared resources for streamlined team operations.
- Provide administrative and project support to keep publicity and marketing campaigns on track and materials well-organized.
- Assist in media outreach through trade review submissions, media list management, and seasonal catalog pitch coordination.
Qualifications & Skills
- Preferably 1–2 years of experience in publishing, internships, freelance work, bookstore, library experience, or participation in literary magazines/newspapers is considered.
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for commercial fiction, publishing, and marketing/publicity in the literary field.
- Interest in social media trends, influencer marketing, and audience engagement.
- Comfortable collaborating across various departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or social media tools is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for author events and industry conferences.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
This non-exempt hourly role offers a pay range between $22 and $25 per hour, determined based on job-related factors including location, experience, and education to ensure competitive and fair salary alignment.
