Purple Strategies is a corporate reputation and strategy consultancy that blends the creativity and discipline of brand communications with the pace and tactical rigor of political campaigns. The firm helps organizations strengthen or protect reputation and brand value, and works with Fortune 500 companies, associations, nonprofits, and globally recognized brands.
Purple supports major organizations as they work through complex reputation, business, and policy challenges. Its collaborative approach is built to help clients anticipate reputation risks and opportunities, drive change through business action and transformation, and navigate crises, business decisions, and regulatory shifts that affect decision-making.
About the Role
The Marketing Director is a central contributor to Purple’s growth and external visibility. This person will guide and execute integrated marketing programs that raise the firm’s profile through thought leadership, brand awareness, and high-value partnerships. The position is based full-time in Alexandria, VA, with an office-first hybrid schedule requiring three days per week onsite.
What You’ll Do
You will lead marketing initiatives across channels, work closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teammates, and turn Purple’s expertise into content and campaigns that support business development. The role also includes tracking performance, strengthening engagement with media and industry partners, and identifying ways to modernize workflows through AI tools and HubSpot.
Additional Information
Applicants should be prepared to work from Purple Strategies’ Alexandria, VA headquarters under a hybrid arrangement. The company asks employees to be in the office three days each week.
To apply, candidates must submit a resume and cover letter through Purple Strategies’ careers page.

Employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, disability, protected veteran status, genetic information, age, or any other legally protected status.
Qualifications
The company is seeking a candidate with a bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of progressive marketing experience, ideally in a professional services environment. Strong writing ability, sound judgment, presentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are important. Experience with CRM platforms, especially HubSpot, is preferred, along with familiarity using AI-powered tools across CRM, design, development, and workflow automation. The role also calls for confidence working independently, excellent relationship-building skills, and experience managing external agencies and vendors, including budgeting, contracts, and performance oversight.
The ideal candidate should be highly aligned with Purple’s values: adaptable, collaborative, curious, innovative, industrious, and respectful.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels in support of business strategy and goals.
- Translate Purple’s services and positioning into content that supports lead generation and pipeline growth.
- Work with senior leaders and internal teams to ensure marketing efforts have the right messaging, assets, and activation plans.
- Manage content, website experiences, email newsletters, and social media for Purple-owned channels so they generate qualified interest and capture intent signals.
- Maintain a consistent marketing calendar and produce small, high-value in-person and virtual events for curated audiences.
- Design new engagement programs and content platforms that bring select high-profile contacts into direct conversation with Purple’s ideas and expertise.
- Stay aligned with lead-generation priorities so content development and marketing strategy reinforce each other.
- Look for opportunities to improve, automate, and modernize workflows using AI-enabled tools and HubSpot CRM.
- Monitor competitor marketing activity and share regular insights and reporting.
- Measure content and channel performance, then prepare updates based on the data.
- Manage relationships with media, industry partners, and tactical vendors involved in search, earned media placement, AEO, and sponsorship/event execution.
- Help create speaking and media opportunities for Purple leaders, working directly and through external PR or communications agencies.
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts to develop original thought leadership reports and other major content assets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, preferably in professional services.
- Proven success running integrated campaigns across digital, social, newsletters, content, and events.
- Practical experience with CRM platforms, especially HubSpot.
- Excellent writing skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to create persuasive, polished content.
- Comfort using modern AI-powered tools for CRM, design, development, and automation.
- Self-directed, resourceful, and able to work independently.
- Strong ability to synthesize information quickly and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent verbal communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strategic mindset with sound judgment and decisiveness.
- Experience working with outside agencies and partners, including budgeting and contracting.
- Strong command of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Alignment with Purple’s values: adaptable, collaborative, curious, innovative, industrious, and respectful.
Perks
- Opportunity to shape the marketing strategy and external profile of a respected reputation and strategy firm.
- Exposure to high-profile clients, major media, and influential industry partners.
- Collaborative environment with cross-functional teamwork and leadership access.
- Use of modern tools, including AI-enabled platforms and HubSpot, to streamline and improve marketing work.
