Overview

The Marketing Society seeks a creatively minded and digitally proficient Marketing Assistant to join our dynamic team during an exciting growth phase. With our established brand positioning "For Marketers Who Mean Business," a recently introduced community app, and a robust schedule of international events, the chosen candidate will be actively engaged from the outset, crafting social media content, driving campaigns, and expanding our global community.

About The Marketing Society

Founded in 1959, The Marketing Society is an international network of senior marketers committed to the belief that marketing equates to business success. Operating as a not-for-profit membership organization headquartered in London, we connect marketing leaders across England, Scotland, Singapore, Hong Kong, UAE, and New York, fostering professional growth and challenge.

Role Description

This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone early in their social media and content career to contribute meaningfully to our marketing efforts. Working alongside senior team members including the Marketing Manager, Senior Creative, and Global Head of Marketing and Brand, the assistant will manage daily social media output, email marketing campaigns, and editorial content across diverse global markets. This role entails significant responsibility from day one and is London-based with a flexible work environment incorporating remote and office settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee content scheduling and management on platforms such as LinkedIn and Instagram tailored for global locations.
  • Create compelling, brand-aligned social media copy to reflect our positioning.
  • Monitor social media interactions, engage with audience comments and messages, and identify opportunities for enhanced engagement.
  • Compile and analyze monthly social media performance reports with actionable insights.
  • Support local teams with content directives and customized marketing materials.
  • Assist with production and distribution of the "Dates for your Diary" newsletter.
  • Develop and review website, event page, and member communication content.
  • Extract and repurpose highlight content from events, interviews, and member activities.
  • Contribute to content creation for major events like the Global Conference and Leadership Dinner.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Creative to produce graphics and social assets using tools like Canva and InDesign.
  • Maintain content calendars and ensure consistent brand messaging across all digital touchpoints.
  • Manage digital content libraries to uphold brand integrity.
  • Assist in building email campaigns using CRM and marketing email platforms.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and support campaign strategy development through research and competitive analysis.

Candidate Profile

While not every criterion needs to be met, successful candidates typically demonstrate:

  • Exceptional written English abilities with a keen editorial sensibility and tone awareness.
  • Comfort and proficiency in using LinkedIn and Instagram, recognizing engagement drivers for each.
  • Design expertise in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite applications.
  • Strong organizational skills capable of juggling several projects and deadlines.
  • A positive, collaborative mindset fueled by passion for marketing and brand development.
  • One to two years of professional experience in social media, content creation, or marketing roles, either in-house or agency-based.

Preferred qualifications include familiarity with social media scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Later), email marketing platforms (such as HubSpot or Mailchimp), and a degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or related fields.

Compensation and Benefits

  • An annual salary of £24,900.
  • Pension contributions comprising 5% employee and 3% employer via Royal London.
  • One "Energy Day" per year after probation to use as a personal rest or recharge day.
  • Life insurance providing coverage at three times the basic salary.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities throughout the year.
  • Access to perks and discounts via our HR platform Charlie HR.
  • £20 allowance towards professional attire or dry cleaning for attendance at flagship events.
  • Annual performance-based bonus awarded in February/March.
  • Generous holiday entitlement including 25 days leave, 8 public holidays, plus an additional week off between Christmas and New Year, with extra days added for long service starting after five years.
  • Eye care benefits including reimbursement for an eye test and £50 annually towards lenses or glasses if prescription changes.
  • Direct exposure to premier marketing industry events and senior leaders, including our Global Awards and Cannes Lions coverage.
