Manufacturing Technician - Night Shift (12-Month Fixed Term Contract)

About the Role

This position is for a Manufacturing Technician working night shifts under a 12-month fixed-term contract at our facility in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. The primary mission is to support production teams in consistently meeting targets for overall equipment efficiency (OEE) and minimizing total line rejects (TLR). Preventative maintenance is also a key responsibility, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime.

Main Responsibilities

• Uphold rigorous safety protocols, including personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout (LOTO), emergency procedures, and maintaining safety features on all machinery.
• Offer ongoing assistance to production teams to assure achievement of OEE and TLR benchmarks.
• Respond expediently to unplanned equipment stoppages or defective product issues to restore operations.
• Clearly identify, document, and communicate problems using methods such as 5W2H, followed by effective containment strategies and permanent corrective actions.
• Follow Line QRQC (Quick Response Quality Control) standards and apply escalation processes as needed.
• Utilize schematics and manuals to accurately identify root causes and adhere to standard troubleshooting practices.
• Log all equipment downtime, generate shift reports, and participate in total productive maintenance (TPM) initiatives.
• Communicate and document all spare parts usage, work with technicians to manage inventory and supplier relations, and highlight any shortages or issues.
• Ensure information and updates are effectively communicated across shifts, including comprehensive shift handovers.
• Maintain adherence to 5S workplace organization standards in production and technical areas.
• Relay equipment performance concerns to engineering teams and support continuous improvement initiatives for processes and equipment.
• Help reduce setup and changeover durations and provide on-the-job training to fellow technicians.
• Be prepared to undertake additional tasks as reasonably assigned by the company.

Required Qualifications

• A Certificate or Diploma in Electronic Engineering or an equivalent field is mandatory. Additional on-the-job training will be given.

Professional Experience

• At least 2 to 3 years working in a manufacturing setting, ideally within the electronics industry.
• Experience with both in-circuit and functional testing procedures.
• Proficient in PC-based testing, including both software and hardware setups.

Technical Training & Competencies

• Familiarity with Agilent i5000 ICT platforms
• Hands-on experience with GPIB, RS232, and PCIO interfaces
• Programming knowledge in C++, and experience with Windows and UNIX environments
• Understanding of automotive protocols such as K-Line, CAN, and LIN
• Mechanical proficiency in SMT and Deprag automated screw insertion technologies
• Competence with pneumatic control systems
• Awareness of automotive electronics manufacturing standards
