Job description
Overview
KalRob Machining is hiring a Manual Machinist in Picture Butte, Alberta. This is a full-time, on-site position, which means the work must be done at the physical location and cannot be performed remotely.
Role requirements
The position requires strong English communication skills and a completed secondary school graduation certificate. Applicants should have 2 years to less than 3 years of relevant experience.
Key responsibilities
- Calculate sizes, dimensions, and tolerances for machine components.
- Review and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
- Set up and fine-tune production machinery and tools.
- Assemble and fit parts to very tight tolerances.
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate precision measuring equipment.
- Check machined parts for accuracy using precise measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Set up and run both conventional and computer-controlled machine tools.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
- Identify and resolve equipment irregularities and malfunctions.
- Clean machines and keep the surrounding work area tidy.
- Follow all safety and emergency procedures.
- Carry out routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
Work conditions and physical demands
This role involves independent work in a fast-moving environment with repetitive duties. It is physically demanding, requires prolonged standing, and calls for careful attention to detail. Candidates must be able to handle loads up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Tools and equipment
Steel-toed safety boots are required.

The ideal candidate is accurate, flexible, comfortable working in a team, and has strong oral and written communication skills.
