Role Overview

Mongabay, a prominent environmental science and conservation news organization, seeks a Managing Editor focused on Africa. This full-time role involves leading and shaping impactful environmental journalism across the African continent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage a team of editors and reporters.
  • Commission and edit original, insightful stories.
  • Lead editorial projects from conception to completion.
  • Develop and reinforce partnerships with other media organizations.
  • Ensure that all reporting is accurate, based on facts, and delivered in a timely manner.

Candidate Profile and Experience

  • Minimum of eight years working as an editor in a news organization.
  • Ability to coordinate efficiently with colleagues across multiple time zones is highly preferred.
