Job description

About the company

BOBCARD Limited is a non-deposit-taking NBFC that was formed in 1994 to support the fast-expanding credit card business with a specialised focus. It is one of the early movers in the Indian card market and was also the first non-banking company in India to issue credit cards. The organisation’s primary line of business is credit card issuance.

Role overview

This position involves managing both non-litigation and litigation work for the credit card and NBFC business. The role calls for strong legal judgment, contract handling capability, regulatory understanding, and coordination with internal teams, vendors, counsel, and authorities.

Non-litigation responsibilities

  • Prepare, examine, and negotiate a range of commercial and legal agreements, such as MSAs, co-branding contracts, NDAs, and other related documents.
  • Support the full legal requirements of the credit card product journey, including cardholder agreements and MITC.
  • Track, interpret, and apply regulatory directions from the Reserve Bank of India and other relevant authorities that affect the NBFC and credit card business.
  • Assess marketing initiatives, customer-facing communication, and product disclosures to make sure they comply with legal requirements.
  • Evaluate outsourcing arrangements and vendor agreements to ensure appropriate risk safeguards and regulatory adherence.
  • Offer practical legal advice to internal business and functional teams on product design, operational matters, and documentation.
  • Participate in discussions with vendors and business stakeholders to finalise agreements.
  • Work with contract management tools and oversee the non-litigation team’s activities.

Litigation responsibilities

  • Manage legal disputes across consumer complaints, civil matters, criminal issues, recovery actions, and regulatory proceedings.
  • Work closely with external advocates and internal teams on case planning, filing requirements, and court appearances.
  • Deal with law enforcement, collection agencies, police stations, and investigative bodies in cases involving fraud and complaints.
  • Assist with dispute resolution efforts, including settlements, arbitration, and mediation.
  • Draft and review legal notices, responses, and other court-related documentation.
  • Use litigation management tools to track matters and supervise the litigation team’s work.

Required attributes

  • Sound command over legal terminology, procedures, and day-to-day legal operations.
  • Strong grasp of corporate law and defence-oriented legal strategy.
  • Awareness of prevailing legislation and practical legal compliance requirements.
  • Ability to juggle several assignments while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication.

Eligibility

Any graduate can apply.

Additional information

This role covers both advisory and contentious legal work, with responsibility for coordinating closely with internal stakeholders, external counsel, vendors, and authorities. The selected candidate may also be expected to help monitor team activity in both the non-litigation and litigation functions.
