Role Overview

The Manager, Treasury & Risk oversees comprehensive treasury operations, drives liquidity management, formulates financial risk mitigation strategies, and manages corporate insurance programs. This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the company’s financial stability and growth by ensuring cash flow optimization, effective capital allocation, and risk control, especially regarding interest rates and foreign exchange exposures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily cash management activities, including cash positioning, forecasting, and ensuring sufficient liquidity for all operational and strategic requirements.
  • Build and maintain solid relationships with banking partners and oversee treasury systems and processes, ensuring secure and efficient handling of payments.
  • Oversee capital structure planning, manage debt and compliance with covenants, and provide analysis related to financing activities.
  • Identify, quantify, and control financial risks, especially those linked to currency and interest rates, and implement risk hedging initiatives.
  • Administer global insurance programs, steering policy renewals, coverage assessments, and broker interactions.
  • Retain clear, compliant documentation for treasury functions, risk management, and insurance matters.
  • Help coordinate internal and external audits relevant to treasury and insurance operations.
  • Generate regular reports for leadership on topics such as company liquidity, debt levels, insurance exposure, and broader risk metrics.
  • Deliver insightful financial analysis to inform forecasting, budgeting, and strategy planning.
  • Serve as a resource to leadership and cross-functional teams on treasury and risk matters.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; a CPA qualification is advantageous.
  • Five to eight years of advancing experience in treasury, corporate finance, or risk management roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial markets, debt products, cash management, and risk hedging approaches.
  • Proficiency with treasury management tools, financial modeling, and advanced MS Excel abilities.
  • Effective communicator capable of influencing, partnering with executives, and collaborating with a broad range of teams.
  • Keen organizational skills and a meticulous approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, balancing risk and business priorities, and showing a track record of continuous improvement.
  • Practical experience in US operations, compliance, and foreign exchange exposure management is considered an asset.
  • Experience in change management, specially relating to treasury process automation or system upgrades, is beneficial.

Additional Information

  • The position is located at the Calgary corporate office and offers hybrid work arrangements, combining in-office and remote days.
  • Standard hours are Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week, with flexibility for occasional extra hours.
