The company values inclusivity, diversity, and creating meaningful impact every day. Sephora SEA operates an omnichannel business across more than eight countries, including Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Its network includes over 100 stores and major flagship locations such as ION and Raffles City in Singapore, F88 in Kuala Lumpur, and Pitt Street in Sydney. The region is expanding quickly, with new stores and channels such as click-and-collect and marketplace.
Role Overview
As Manager, Merchandising, Asia, you will help shape and execute merchandising plans for the Asia region. The position supports the Director in building category direction, aligning regional actions with global priorities while accounting for local market needs. The role also includes working with global brands to ensure effective market execution, supporting the discovery and development of new Asian beauty brands, monitoring the merchandising budget, and using business analytics to identify trends and improvement opportunities. You will also assist in preparing for global strategic discussions and contribute to the Asia product development and animation calendar.
Key Responsibilities
- Help define the Asia category strategy using market movements, customer insights, and sales performance to uncover white space, improve growth, enhance space productivity, raise profitability, and strengthen 360-degree campaigns that support key categories.
- Support the Director, Asia Merchandising, in designing and rolling out category plans for the region while keeping them aligned with global direction and regional priorities.
- Work closely with global surge brands to ensure smooth execution across Asia markets and help resolve operational, logistical, and market-specific issues.
- Assist in overseeing the merchandising budget and ensure investments in priority brands are allocated and tracked carefully.
- Analyze category performance with the Merchandising Analytics team to build a clear view of the Asia market and identify trends, opportunities, and gaps.
- Support the Vice President, Merchandising, in preparation for major global strategy meetings through data analysis, presentation creation, and development of key insights.
- Contribute to the development of the Asia product development and animation calendar so that it reflects market trends and customer preferences.
- Support the sourcing and incubation of emerging Asian beauty brands to strengthen Sephora’s product assortment.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in merchandising or category management, preferably within a multi-brand retail environment.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related discipline; an MBA will be considered an advantage.
- Demonstrated success in creating and implementing category strategies that improve growth, profitability, and market penetration.
- Strong ability to build strategy from market trends, consumer insights, and data analysis.
- Experience managing brand portfolios, including supplier relationships, commercial negotiations, and joint business planning.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing ability in a multicultural setting.
Culture and Benefits
- A workplace where authenticity is welcomed and differences contribute to collective strength.
- A culture that supports empowerment, learning, and growth, with room to innovate and lead.
- Work that feels meaningful, from serving clients every day to contributing to the wider industry.
