Job description
Role overview
Join a highly advanced airport environment where you will be accountable for the IT services that support passenger movement, baggage handling, and airfield operations around the clock. The position has a direct effect on safety, operational reliability, and the overall passenger journey by keeping essential systems secure, stable, and performing at a high level.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day support and resilience of airport systems that are vital to live operations. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong ownership, fast decision-making, and the ability to work effectively in a 24/7 mission-critical setting.
Core ownership
- Oversee round-the-clock support for business-critical airport applications and platforms, including AODB, BHS, and other operations systems.
- Accept full accountability for incidents from start to finish.
- Maintain the reliability, uptime, and recovery of systems that directly affect airport operations in real time.
Incident leadership
- Personally coordinate major incidents through resolution.
- Respond independently to operational disruptions under pressure.
- Lead root-cause analysis and put measures in place to reduce repeat issues.
- This position suits someone who has already managed high-impact incidents at scale.
Team leadership
- Supervise engineers and support personnel.
- Coordinate closely with internal IT stakeholders.
- Promote a strong, high-performing support mindset in a 24/7 environment.
Delivery and improvement
- Balance live system support with ongoing upgrade initiatives, such as the AMS upgrade.
- Contribute to continuous enhancements and service improvements.
- Ensure that project work transitions smoothly into steady-state operations.
What the role demands
- Deep experience in airport IT systems, particularly AODB and BHS, with 8 or more years in the domain.
- Proven experience leading people in a 24/7 operational setup.
- Strong, practical ownership of incident and problem management.
- Prior work within internal IT teams rather than only on the vendor side.
- Background in large-scale airport operations environments.
- Exposure to cyber and IT operational processes.
- Ability to handle complex, high-volume operations at scale.
- Comfort working in fast-moving, high-pressure, always-on operations.
- Ability to manage constant priorities and a heavy workload effectively.
