American Express is seeking a Manager, HR Chief of Staff to support the VP, Senior Colleague Strategic Partner for Enterprise Technology Services. This role sits within the Colleague Experience Group, which oversees colleague benefits and programs worldwide, including career development, leadership and learning, rewards, well-being, recruiting, labor relations, colleague support services, and more. The team’s goal is to create an exceptional colleague experience that helps the business grow while giving employees the resources they need to perform at their best.

What this role will focus on
- Coordinate initiatives that influence how colleagues and leaders support customers and the business.
- Improve operations by keeping priorities organized, aligned, and moving efficiently.
- Serve as a dependable partner to senior leadership by adding structure, insight, and forward momentum.
- Lead execution of important people processes such as performance management, talent reviews, annual evaluations, and engagement analysis.
- Create timelines, templates, and guidance that help other Chief of Staff peers support their leaders effectively.
- Drive key CEG initiatives and projects from planning through completion.
- Work with Centers of Excellence to deliver major HR programs end to end, including talent assessment, succession planning, performance management, compensation, colleague scorecards, and annual surveys.
- Analyze workforce and human capital data, identify trends, and prepare clear reports and recommendations for senior leaders, including the Senior CSP and Business Unit President.
- Act as the link between the Business Unit Executive Office and the CSP team to maintain alignment, compliance, and consistent best practices across the organization.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate brings strong organization, judgment, and influence skills, and is comfortable operating in a fast-moving, matrixed environment. Experience as a Chief of Staff is preferred, along with HR, CEG, or consulting experience. The role also calls for high attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and confidence partnering with leaders at all levels, including executive committee members.

- Strong relationship-building and communication skills to drive collaboration and business results.
- Confidence and maturity when working with senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives.

- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, especially for workforce insights and leadership presentations.
- Comfort with ambiguity, curiosity, initiative, adaptability, and a fast learning mindset.
- Interest in technology, product management, data, and/or artificial intelligence.
- Experience managing large HR processes such as performance management, talent assessment, and year-end compensation cycles.
