Role overview
The Design Manager for Nykaa’s Web Com team will be responsible for guiding the visual and interaction design direction of the e-commerce platform. The role is centered on creating a smooth, engaging, and easy-to-use shopping journey while leading a design team and working closely with cross-functional partners.
Team leadership and management
- Guide and support a team of UI/UX designers, graphic designers, and other design professionals.
- Build a collaborative and imaginative team culture.
- Run regular team discussions, review work, and share helpful feedback.
Design strategy and execution
- Shape and roll out design plans that align with wider business goals.
- Make sure the team delivers polished, brand-consistent design solutions.
- Oversee wireframes, prototypes, user journeys, and high-fidelity mockups.
Collaboration and communication
- Partner with product managers, developers, marketers, and other stakeholders to ensure the design serves user needs and business objectives.
- Present concepts and design recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Maintain clear documentation of design choices, standards, and guidelines.
User experience and interface design
- Ensure the digital experience remains intuitive, efficient, and visually appealing across all touchpoints.
- Use usability testing and user feedback to improve and refine designs.
- Keep up with current design trends, tools, technologies, and best practices.
Project management
- Manage several design projects at the same time while meeting deadlines.
- Distribute resources effectively and track project progress.
- Handle issues that come up during the design workflow.
Quality assurance
- Ensure all design output follows Nykaa’s brand standards and quality expectations.
- Carry out regular design audits and reviews.
- Keep design files, documentation, and assets organized for future use.
Qualifications and skills
- A bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, or a related discipline is required; a master’s degree will be considered an advantage.
- 8–10 years of experience in design, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management capacity.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating web and mobile design work.
- Hands-on proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, and prototyping tools such as InVision or Marvel.
- Strong command of user-centered design principles and practices.
- Solid planning, organization, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Prior exposure to beauty or fashion e-commerce is preferred.
