Overview
Reporting directly to the Deputy Director, the Manager oversees all aspects of Employee Relations and Industrial Relations within the organisation. This role is responsible for managing employee discipline, handling investigations, and fostering a cooperative relationship with the union to maintain a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the central point of contact for employee grievances and disciplinary issues, ensuring concerns are addressed through internal processes, the NUHS Cluster Group, and government bodies such as the Ministry of Health.
- Champion a fair and consistent disciplinary framework aligned with corporate governance and legal requirements.
- Lead thorough investigations and resolutions concerning workplace conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary cases with impartiality.
- Collaborate with Legal and HR teams to ensure adherence to company policies and relevant legislation.
- Work with NUHS Group HR to assess and update HR policies related to employee conduct and disciplinary procedures.
- Develop and implement targeted training programs on conflict resolution, disciplinary procedures, and ethical decision-making to educate leaders and staff.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning to equip the workforce in effectively managing complex workplace interactions.
- Manage the records of disciplinary cases, ensuring comprehensive documentation and data accuracy.
- Analyze disciplinary trends to inform strategic HR interventions and improve workplace relations.
- Serve as the principal authority in verifying disciplinary cases for precision and compliance.
- Design and execute industrial relations strategies that comply with corporate policies and legislation.
- Act as a strategic liaison between management and employees to nurture trust, collaboration, and workplace harmony.
- Effectively mediate labour disputes to achieve fair outcomes for all parties involved.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related discipline preferred.
- Between 5 and 8 years of experience handling employee relations, disciplinary management, and industrial relations.
- Proven experience conducting investigations and managing disciplinary processes within unionised environments.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills coupled with effective negotiation capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive information discreetly.
- Confidence in engaging with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Sound analytical and organizational skills.
