Role Overview

The Manager Cash Production and Circulation plays a pivotal leadership role within the Money and Cash directorate of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. This position is responsible for overseeing banknote and coin manufacturing, ensuring the quality and authenticity of the nation's cash, and monitoring the cash system's effectiveness in meeting New Zealanders' needs. This is a permanent position based in Wellington.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate production arrangements for banknotes and coins.
• Guarantee the quality standards and authenticity of all cash in circulation within New Zealand.
• Review the performance of cash distribution systems to align with the country's requirements.
• Contribute strategic insights to the Money and Cash team and broader Reserve Bank initiatives.
• Lead and drive transformation within established functions and foster emerging areas of focus.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess substantial technical experience and will have developed, applied, and maintained advanced frameworks, methodologies, and technical standards. Exceptional communication skills are needed to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders. Candidates will have:

• Extensive senior-level experience in central banking, quality assurance, production, or similarly analytical and process-driven sectors with strong governance and risk management.
• Deep understanding of money, cash distribution, and related operations.
• Proven ability to influence and establish trust among both internal teams and external partners.
• Track record of implementing change initiatives, including leading teams through transformation.
• Experience in team leadership, skills development, and fostering a culture centered on excellence.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and proficient communication.

Backgrounds in banknotes and coin production, manufacturing, supply chain, or product management are highly relevant, although candidates from different but related areas are welcome.

The salary range for this role is NZD 179,575 to 209,504 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications.
