Role Summary
This managerial role is responsible for ensuring that all capital market transactions including Bonds, Securities, Interest Rate Swaps (IRS), Options are accurately recorded in the system and verified against Reuters or email confirmations. The position oversees the correct execution of payment instructions based on Securities Settlement Instructions (SSI) and makes sure interbank vostro payments from financial institutions are processed timely. It also monitors interest accruals and the amortization of premiums or discounts while supervising the workflow handled by front international branches to avoid processing errors and risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an investment portfolio in USD and QAR currencies.
- Ensure correctness in profit and loss recording of derivative products.
- Maintain awareness of market key performance indicators related to bonds, securities, interest income, and dividends.
- Implement key performance indicators and best practices for capital market operations.
- Coordinate with treasury, financial control, and international branches for smooth interdepartmental operations and respond to queries efficiently.
- Support customers by addressing their queries about bank products and strive to provide effective solutions.
- Adhere to service level agreements to improve turnaround times and maintain strong departmental relationships.
- Provide accurate, timely data to auditors, compliance, financial control, and risk management departments.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies and international regulations governing capital market and derivative products.
- Monitor and verify booking and authorization of transactions including interbank vostro payments.
- Periodically reconcile custody accounts with the bank’s records to confirm exposure consistency with policies.
- Monitor and record interest receipts and payments accurately.
- Keep market prices updated in systems for fair value exposure in accordance with Central Bank policies.
- Engage with financial control for P/L and accrual queries and handle external/internal audits professionally.
- Oversee accuracy in vostro accounts updates in the payment system and physical deal verification with custodians.
- Prepare periodical reports for management, central bank, and international branches.
- Supervise and coordinate staff activities, ensuring smooth work flow and adherence to procedures.
- Provide on-the-job training and rotate staff assignments for operational continuity during periods of increased pressure.
- Identify and escalate unresolved issues promptly and suggest feasible solutions to management.
- Pursue continuous professional development for self and subordinates by staying current with industry developments.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of six years’ relevant experience, ideally within a top-tier international bank or in banking operations.
