Overview
An expanding civil engineering and construction contractor in Ireland is hiring a commercially focused Management Accountant in Enniscorthy, County Wexford. The business works across infrastructure, utilities, groundworks and construction, and is looking for someone who can own the finance function while strengthening reporting, controls and systems to support profitable growth.
This position goes beyond standard bookkeeping and accounting. You will partner closely with the Managing Director and project teams to improve visibility on project performance, profitability, cash flow and overall business results.
Role summary
The position is responsible for the company’s day-to-day accounting and finance operations, together with the rollout and upkeep of systems that provide live insight into project cost and commercial performance. A major focus of the role is the implementation and ongoing use of LiveCosts and SubcontractorOS to improve cost capture, reporting discipline and commercial control.
The role is practical and hands-on, suited to someone who enjoys refining processes, solving operational issues and helping leadership make better decisions through accurate data.
Financial management
- Oversee daily accounting activity and keep the finance function running smoothly.
- Maintain the sales and purchase ledgers.
- Handle supplier invoice processing and payment runs.
- Raise customer invoices and manage credit control / collections.
- Complete bank reconciliations.
- Administer payroll, PAYE, VAT and RCT compliance requirements.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Build budgets and financial forecasts.
- Produce rolling cash flow forecasts.
- Work with external accountants and auditors.
- Maintain strong internal financial controls.
Project cost control and commercial reporting
- Set up and maintain weekly reporting on project costs.
- Compare actual project spend with approved budgets.
- Track labour, plant, materials and subcontractor costs.
- Prepare weekly project performance updates.
- Highlight cost overruns and commercial exposure.
- Create monthly cost-to-complete forecasts.
- Monitor project margin and cash generation.
- Ensure project costs are coded and recorded accurately.
- Develop reporting tools that give management current visibility on project delivery.
- Support commercial analysis and decision-making for leadership.
Systems ownership: LiveCosts and SubcontractorOS
The selected candidate will act as the internal owner for the company’s finance and commercial systems.
- Lead the rollout and ongoing administration of LiveCosts across all projects.
- Lead the rollout and ongoing administration of SubcontractorOS across the business.
- Ensure project teams enter information accurately and consistently.
- Keep weekly cost reporting and forecasting processes operating effectively.
- Prepare weekly dashboards for management review.
- Monitor committed spend and expected final project outcomes.
- Train operational teams on how to use LiveCosts and SubcontractorOS effectively.
- Encourage system adoption and compliance across all projects.
- Spot opportunities to automate tasks and improve workflows.
- Continuously improve reporting, forecasting and management information.
Procurement and operational controls
- Introduce and manage Goods Received Note procedures.
- Match supplier invoices with purchase orders and delivery documentation.
- Build systems for tracking materials and accountability.
- Support purchasing controls and approval processes.
- Improve visibility of plant, material and subcontractor expenditure.
- Contribute to operational systems that reduce waste and improve accountability.
- Support wider continuous-improvement initiatives across the business.
First six months: expected outcomes
- Deliver accurate monthly management accounts.
- Put weekly project cost reporting in place for all live projects.
- Successfully implement and embed LiveCosts.
- Successfully implement and embed SubcontractorOS.
- Set up a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
- Introduce project profitability reporting.
- Put GRN and invoice-matching controls into operation.
- Create management dashboards covering the key business KPIs.
- Improve visibility of project performance, profitability and cash flow.
Candidate profile
The employer is seeking someone with strong accounting foundations, commercial awareness and the ability to take ownership. Experience in construction or civil engineering would be beneficial, particularly where project costing, job costing and compliance are involved.

Compensation
Salary is €55,000 to €70,000, depending on experience, plus a performance bonus and pension.
