Currently, Sodexo is expanding and seeks experienced individuals for their Weipa-based FIFO maintenance supervisor position. This full-time role involves overseeing a skilled team to ensure high standards of maintenance service, safety, and efficiency at the site, reporting directly to the Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily maintenance operations ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Plan and prioritize preventative and corrective maintenance tasks to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Lead, mentor, and support development of maintenance team members.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and diagnostics to proactively address issues.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and compliance documentation related to maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Manage maintenance budgets and optimize resource use.
  • Coordinate activities with contractors and specialist service providers.
  • Analyze maintenance performance and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with operational stakeholders to meet maintenance goals.

Candidate Requirements

  • Trade qualification in Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, or Carpentry.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience in maintenance within industrial, mining, facilities management, or similar sectors.
  • Previous exposure to FIFO or remote operational environments.
  • Strong understanding of building maintenance systems and mechanical/electrical maintenance practices.
  • Experience in planning and scheduling preventative maintenance programs.
  • Proficient with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and personnel management capabilities.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and compliance procedures.
  • Capability to evaluate maintenance metrics and implement continuous improvement strategies.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in managing maintenance budgets and working with contractors.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or comparable continuous improvement methods.
