Its culture is built around quality, innovation, staff development, and a long-standing commitment to making a positive difference.
About the Role
The Maintenance Officer is responsible for keeping facilities operating safely, smoothly, and to a consistently high standard. This includes planned and reactive maintenance, working with contractors, recording maintenance activity accurately, and delivering timely, professional support to residents, staff, and other stakeholders.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Keeping the site compliant with building regulations, Australian safety standards, and budget expectations while ensuring equipment and assets remain safe and functional.
- Handling both scheduled maintenance and urgent repairs, assigning tasks, coordinating approved contractors, and responding quickly to breakdowns or emergencies.
- Looking after internal and external fixtures, plant and equipment, air-conditioning systems, cleaning-related tasks, and Legionella control documentation, along with detailed asset and service logs.
- Completing maintenance records, safety checks, purchase requests, and work orders in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Providing courteous, responsive service to residents, employees, contractors, and stakeholders, and prioritising work that affects resident wellbeing.
About You
- You hold a relevant post-trade qualification or advanced certificate and have hands-on experience in general maintenance.
- You are physically capable, technically competent, and able to use tools, equipment, and manual handling techniques safely.
- You work well in busy settings, stay organised, and can manage your workload effectively with limited supervision.
- You communicate clearly, build good working relationships, and take a respectful, customer-oriented approach.
- You have a strong safety mindset, great attention to detail, and working knowledge of WHS, building systems, and maintenance tools or technologies.
- You hold a current Australian driver’s licence (P2 or above) and are willing to drive.
Additional Requirements
Applicants may need to complete a pre-employment medical assessment. The successful candidate must also have a current NDIS worker clearance. In line with current aged care health guidance, candidates are encouraged to be up to date with all recommended vaccinations.
Why Join Lutheran Homes Group?
- Access to salary packaging that can provide up to $18,549 of income tax-free benefit.
- A role where your skills contribute to meaningful work and better outcomes for residents.
- Opportunities to grow professionally and build new skills.
